Learning at Kings’ School Dubai
As a specialist primary school, we focus entirely on the formative years of a child’s education. This enables us to create an environment, curriculum and culture designed specifically for young learners. From early language development and play-based discovery to growing independence, leadership and academic confidence, every stage is carefully supported.
We adapt the National Curriculum for England into a conceptual, integrated framework that uses the surrounding environment to bring lessons to life.
Our aim is to ensure children leave KSD with strong foundations, a love of learning and the confidence to thrive in the next stage of education.
Early Years
Foundation Stage (FS1 and FS2 | Ages 3-5)
Our Foundation Stage offers a joyful, nurturing and engaging start to school life. Based on the Early Years Foundation Stage framework, children learn through purposeful play, exploration and discovery. Teachers create rich learning environments where children develop confidence, independence, communication and curiosity.
Every child is recognised as unique. Learning is shaped around interests, relationships and carefully planned experiences that support social, emotional, physical and academic development.
Primary
Our Primary School provides a stimulating and supportive learning journey through Key Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2) and Key Stage 2 (Years 3 to 6).
Key Stage 1 supports children as they move from the play-based learning of Foundation Stage into more structured classroom routines. Learning remains creative, engaging and hands-on, helping children develop strong foundations in literacy, numeracy, communication and the wider curriculum. Children are encouraged to ask questions, work collaboratively, build confidence and take pride in their progress.
As students move through Key Stage 2, there is a greater focus on independence, responsibility, leadership and resilience. Children are encouraged to think critically, work collaboratively and take pride in their progress.
In the final two years, leadership is further developed, and children are expected to take on various leadership roles. These school leaders will play an integral role in the running of the school, planning and engaging in many events throughout the year.
Across all Primary years, learning extends beyond the classroom through enriching experiences and real-world opportunities.

Our inclusive approach combines high-quality classroom teaching with personalised support, intervention and specialist guidance where needed. Our Learning Inclusively at Kings’ (LInK) teams work closely with teachers, families and students to support academic progress, wellbeing and independence.

Some may require additional learning support, some may be learning English as an additional language, while others may be high-achieving or gifted and talented. Every child should feel that they belong and that they are supported to thrive.
Specialist Learning
The curriculum is enriched by specialist teaching in areas such as Arabic, French, Spanish, ICT, PE, swimming, music and Islamic Education. These subjects broaden children’s experiences, develop confidence and allow pupils to discover interests and talents beyond the core curriculum.
Arabic & Islamic Education
Arabic language, Islamic Education and cultural learning are important parts of the curriculum. Children are supported to develop language confidence, cultural understanding and appreciation for the UAE and the wider region. These learning experiences help children grow with respect, awareness and a strong sense of connection to the country they call home.
Progress with Purpose
As children move through Year 6, we support them carefully for the transition into secondary education. Our pupils leave Kings’ School Dubai as confident, curious and independent learners, ready to embrace the opportunities and challenges of the next stage of their educational journey.

Arabic & Islamic Education
Arabic and Islamic Education are important parts of the curriculum at Kings’ School Al Barsha. Students are supported to develop language skills, cultural understanding and an appreciation of the values and heritage of the region. Learning is designed to be engaging, meaningful and relevant to students’ lives in the UAE.
