Learning at Kings’ School Nad Al Sheba
Rooted in the National Curriculum for England and enriched by our local and international context, learning at KSNAS combines academic structure with creative teaching, personal support and meaningful opportunities for students to apply their knowledge.
We understand that every child’s learning journey is different. Our teachers work closely with students to build confidence, encourage curiosity and support progress through engaging, purposeful and responsive teaching.
From Foundation Stage through to Secondary, students are encouraged to become independent, reflective and resilient learners who are prepared for the next stage of their education.
We believe strong outcomes are achieved when students feel supported, confident and motivated to learn. Our approach is rooted in ‘results the right way’, combining academic ambition with wellbeing, character and personal growth. Students are encouraged to build strong foundations, take ownership of their learning and make progress with confidence and purpose.
Early Years
Foundation Stage (FS1 and FS2 | Ages 3-5)
Our Foundation Stage provides a warm, happy and nurturing start to formal school life.
Children learn through play, exploration, language-rich experiences and carefully planned opportunities that support social, emotional and academic development. Teachers work closely with families to ensure every child feels safe, confident and ready to learn.
Primary
Years 1 to 6 | Ages 5 to 11
Our Primary School provides a stimulating and supportive learning journey through Key Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2) and Key Stage 2 (Years 3 to 6). During these stages children build strong foundations in literacy, numeracy, communication and wider curriculum areas.
Learning is creative, structured and purposeful, helping students develop confidence, collaboration and independence. As children progress, they are encouraged to take more responsibility for their learning, build resilience and develop a deeper sense of curiosity.
As students move through Key Stage 2, there is a greater focus on independence, responsibility, leadership and resilience. Children are encouraged to think critically, work collaboratively and take pride in their progress.
In the final two years, leadership is further developed, and children are expected to take on various leadership roles. These school leaders will play an integral role in the running of the school, planning and engaging in many events throughout the year.
Across all Primary years, learning extends beyond the classroom through enriching experiences and real-world opportunities.
Secondary
Years 7 to 11 | Ages 11 to 16
Our Secondary School through Key Stage 3 (Years 7 to 9) and Key Stage 4 (Years 10 and 11) supports students through a broad and balanced curriculum that develops knowledge, skills and personal responsibility.
Students are encouraged to think critically, make connections across subjects and build the confidence to engage with more challenging learning. As they progress towards GCSE and pathway choices, they receive guidance and support to make decisions that reflect their strengths and future aspirations.
Throughout the Secondary years, students are encouraged to take responsibility for their learning and develop the confidence, resilience and independence needed for the future.
Sixth Form
Years 12 and 13 | Ages 16 to 18
Our Sixth Form provides personalised routes that support students towards higher education, university equivalency and future careers.
With a strong focus on BTEC and applied learning pathways, students can develop practical knowledge, independent learning skills and confidence in areas connected to their future ambitions. Students can also study a carefully selected range of A-Level subjects, enabling them to build depth in their chosen disciplines while keeping future options open.
Alongside academic study, students receive structured guidance throughout the university application process, including support with course selection, personal statements, admissions assessments and interviews, both in the UK and internationally.
Beyond the classroom, Sixth Form life places a strong emphasis on leadership, responsibility and student voice. Students take on meaningful leadership roles across the school community, acting as mentors and role models for younger pupils and contributing to wider school initiatives.
A broad enrichment programme supports personal development, encouraging students to engage in volunteering, community projects and wider co-curricular opportunities. These experiences help students build confidence, resilience and a strong sense of purpose, complementing their academic studies.
Inclusion in Learning
We recognise that children have different strengths, needs and learning journeys. Some may require additional learning support, some may be learning English as an additional language, while others may be high-achieving or gifted and talented.
Our inclusive approach combines high-quality classroom teaching with personalised support, intervention and specialist guidance where needed. Our Learning Inclusively at Kings’ (LInK) teams work closely with teachers, families and students to support academic progress, wellbeing and independence.

International Languages
Language learning at KSAB begins early, building confidence, communication skills and cultural awareness.
As students progress, language learning becomes increasingly structured and academically rigorous, supporting GCSE pathways and encouraging a broader understanding of different cultures and perspectives. Through the study of world languages, students develop a global outlook and the confidence to communicate thoughtfully in an interconnected world.
Arabic & Islamic Education
Arabic and Islamic Education are important parts of the curriculum at Kings’ School Nad Al Sheba. Students are supported to develop language skills, cultural understanding and an appreciation of the values and heritage of the region. Learning is designed to be engaging, meaningful and relevant to students’ lives in the UAE.
